The overall goal for GOLD is to ensure the competitiveness of European telecommunications industry and increase the bandwidth of the European broadband access networks to gigabit rates. Go beyond the first standard by initiating the planned second version of the standard promising an increase of the bandwidth over 100 MHz, by exploring multiple-gigabit copper access.
