The approach to ensure that G.fast becomes a market success is to spread know-how about where and how to deploy G.fast in the most optimal (economical) manner, and where to select what type of backhauling and powering option. The planned work within GOLD includes:
Feasibility studies and development of alternative backhauling and powering options.
Measurements, modelling and simulations of physical layer behaviour of the network at higher frequencies and of G.fast performance.
Coexistence studies with legacy DSL and in-home technologies.
Studies including lab and field trials on the robustness of G.fast solutions and associated Zero Touch solutions.
Support on decision making via geographic topology studies on deployment.
The GOLD projects focus is on G.fast and to explore the possibilities of multiple-gigabit copper access to go beyond the first G.fast standard.
